Work in Australia with Employer Sponsorship
The Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa – Subclass 482 allows skilled workers to live and work in Australia when sponsored by an approved employer. This visa helps Australian businesses address genuine skill shortages by sponsoring qualified overseas talent when suitable local workers are not available.
The 482 visa is available under three streams:
Short-Term Stream (up to 2 years): For occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
Medium-Term Stream (up to 4 years): For occupations on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and eligible for permanent residency pathways.
Labour Agreement Stream: For employers who have a labour agreement with the Australian Government.
To be eligible for the 482 visa, applicants must:
- Be nominated by an approved Australian employer
- Have the required skills, qualifications, and work experience for the nominated occupation
- Meet English language proficiency requirements
- Hold relevant licensing or registration (if applicable)
- Meet health and character requirements
The 482 visa allows visa holders to:
- Work full-time in their nominated occupation
- Live in Australia for up to 2 or 4 years (depending on stream)
- Bring eligible family members with work and study rights
Apply for permanent residency after meeting certain criteria under the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) or Skilled Migration programs
